Transformation to Mission
Element is an East Lansing focused Church of all generations. An East Lansing Church must be able to serve a “dual city” which consists of both Campus and Community. The East Lansing Public High School is bordered by the MSU Delta Gamma Sorority. We must serve both the families and singles within the East Lansing Community and the families and singles within the MSU university city. Element walks out its assignment with one foot on the campus and one in the community. The real question becomes: how do we function together generationally accounting for differing lifestages, priorities and needs? How does Element provide a structure for the different groups to transform together? Ultimately our mission is achieved by calling ALL people, regardless of age or stage, to put Jesus at the center of their lives and then live out GPCTM. Within the GPCTM mission there are structures where groups function intergenerationally and transform together.
Traditional churches fund themselves by assimilating families, securing stable facilities and teaching people to tithe and live generously through giving to the local church. Traditional campus ministries understand students are not able to fund the ministry they so desperately need. Campus ministry staff typically fundraise their own salary from outside the organization. Element, as an East Lansing focused Church, looks to leverage the positives of both.
“We are inviting you to church and to a transformed life”! We are not inviting people to sit in a seat and watch a church service, we are inviting people to experience transformation as they place Jesus as the central Element in their own lives. We are walking this out by getting the Gospel to People, People to Community, Community to Transformation, and Transformation to Mission. We are not inviting people to only a church service, but to be the church as they experience Jesus at the center of everything.
